stress

Influences on my work:

STRESS can have a great number of different effects on people, and everyone reacts to it in different way. Some people thrive upon it and constantly put pressure upon themselves to perform, with deadlines bringing results. Within competition I need a certain amount of pressure to compete to my optimum level. If that level is too high or too low my results will reflect this. This optimum or fine line is the main theory behind my work. Placing materials under stress to allow them to take their own natural form and shape. Much like the things we do and see influence and curve the way we are.

While placing materials under stress and pressure they begin to take shape and become more interesting. If the stress applied is too great the material can break or buckle becoming uneven. If the stress isn't great enough the work can seem very plain and boring. So the work is formed by stress placed upon it. Much like the way our personalities are formed by our experiences.
