Within the sculpture every part has a key role without which the other parts cannot be. The binding holds the plates together and the bars create the shape or form. Each part represents issues within the schooling system.

The plates are the children travelling through their schooling years. The bars are the guidance and education imparted to the students by their teachers. The binding being the rules they are governed by within the school.

Things we see and do mould our personalities and make us who we are, shape our personal identity. The bars link back. Too large, the sculpture breaks and buckles, too small and there is no shape or form.
